Bruce Dale, PhD  ♦  Peter Vadas, PhD


Bruce Dale Keynote SpeakerBruce E. Dale, PhD, is University Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University, where his research focuses on the relationships between energy use and prosperity and the design of integrated agroecosystems for producing sustainable fuels, chemicals, and food. He serves as editor in chief and founding editor of the journal Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining. He received his BS and MS degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Arizona and his PhD from Purdue University. He is a winner of the Charles D. Scott Award, for contributions to the use of biotechnology to produce fuels and chemicals, and the Sterling Hendricks Award, for contributions to agriculture. Dale is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers, and the American Academy of Inventors.


Peter Vadas Keynote SpeakerPeter Vadas, PhD, is a national program leader for Land and Air Management with the USDA Agricultural Research Service Office of National Programs. He leads research programs on soil and air management and forage and rangeland agroecosystems. 

Prior to joining National Programs in 2019, Vadas spent nearly 20 years as a research scientist with ARS in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, conducting research on nutrient management for sustainable animal production systems. Vadas earned a BS in environmental sciences at Virginia Tech, and an MS and PhD in environmental soil science at the University of Delaware.
